The Brattleboro Food Co-op was formed in 1975 as a small buying club.

Today, the Co-op is a 14,580-square-foot natural foods market and deli on the ground floor of a four-story building that also includes Co-op offices, a commissary kitchen, a cooking classroom, and 24 apartments. This beautiful downtown anchor building is a result of a collaboration with the Windham and Windsor Housing Trust and Housing Vermont, with many environmentally friendly features, including utilizing refrigeration waste heat to heat apartments and the store, solar panels on the roof, and much more.

VELCO is Vermont’s statewide electric transmission provider whose sights are set on creating a sustainable Vermont through our people, assets, relationships and operating model. Formed in 1956 when local Vermont utilities established the nation’s first “transmission only” company to access clean hydro power from New York, VELCO remains unique in two important ways:

The Vermont Professionals of Color Network exists to build opportunities to improve the experience, representation and success of BIPOC professionals and businesses in the state of Vermont. We believe that prosperity, in all definitions of the word, starts with opportunities to climb the economic ladder, and that a prosperous BIPOC community is a good thing for ALL of Vermont.
Our mission is supported by three pillars:
1. Promoting BIPOC professional development: with the goal of driving in a new era of professional mobility.
2. Supporting BIPOC entrepreneurship: with the goal of empowering BIPOC organizations, businesses and entrepreneurs with the resources, community and talent to stimulate and sustain economic growth.
3. Empowering BIPOC youth: with the goal of building capacity for young adults of color to access early career experiential opportunities, menteeship opportunities, and critical life-changing moments to ensure that young BIPOC people can reach their full potential.

Together as Vermont Public we will build on that foundation of trusted information, high-quality education, and thoughtful programming to build the future of public media in Vermont.

Vermont Public remains Vermont’s unified public media source for programs from NPR and PBS and for locally produced, award-winning news, video and music content. We also host community events, both virtual and in-person, throughout the broadcast region.

We reach 700,000 readers a month and post daily news stories about state government, politics, consumer affairs, business and public policy.  Our work has been recognized by the American Journalism Project as a national model for independent journalism.


Working Fields is a mission-driven staffing agency that connects local employers with dedicated workers. We match candidates with great-fit roles and support them throughout employment. This minimizes risk for employers and promotes direct hire conversions. Our unique model helps businesses hire and retain people with barriers to employment. We provide training, hands-on account management, peer recovery or life coaching, community-based interventions, and more. Since 2017, we've helped over 1,700 people build stable futures and successful careers with more than 70 employers.
